Perforated Envelope Design

← Back to the Portfolio

There are a few intuitive steps embedded in the design which are based on the production, distribution, and handling of commercial letter-size envelopes. The first notion of analysis is related to the glue application, notice that by design, there is always an empty gap between the edge of the top corners of the envelope and the glue boundary. The gap facilitates access to lift the top lid without the use of tools (Letter Openers). The second factor of analysis is that the paper will tear in a non-uniform matter very close to the folding crease. So taking into consideration the ideas expressed, the perforation of the paper will facilitate the action of opening letters. The concept is inexpensive, friendly, non-intrusive, and should not alter mass production in a significant way.
